“Few things I have experienced in life bring such joy or pleasure as does the art of healing”

“My first experience of acupuncture brought considerable relief to a very painful break in three places at the top of my arm and reduced the stiffness in my shoulder. I was very impressed by the gentle way Stefan inserted the needles, the professional approach to asking about my medical history and the care of the treatment. Stefan is very patient in explaining the areas needing attention including very helpful suggestions regarding diet to increase the healing.” E.W.

"After 300km of riding, of which over 6km involved climbing steep mountains, I'm pleased to say the back was in great shape and did not cause me any problems.  The intensive treatment running up to the trip really paid dividends and was key to me having a great trip. For that, I can't thank you enough." Cheers, J

“At the centre of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.” Lao Tzu

I am extremely privileged to work in an occupation that I am sincerely passionate about; helping people to obtain optimal health and wellbeing, is the realisation of a childhood dream.

“I am not one who was born in the possession of knowledge; I am one who is fond of antiquity, and earnest in seeking it there.” Confucius

When I planned my dream of becoming an acupuncturist I did so with the determination of becoming the best practitioner I could be. I started by studying the most popular styles of acupuncture, Five Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which I obtained a degree in. In my eagerness to learn more, an exceptional set of circumstances made it possible for me to study the methods taught by those before the Cultural Revolution in China. Only a few practitioners alive today have been trained in these ancient skills; this knowledge has without doubt made me a more effective practitioner. I have also trained under one of the last remaining masters of an ancient massage called Anma. This uses the channels and points, together with the knowledge of how the body’s energies move; removing blockages, enhancing health and vitality. The training took two years and involved both giving and receiving massages, which helped me to understand how techniques should vary, as my teacher would say, “listen to the body”.

“All we really need to do is learn the relationships outlined in the classics, and put them to the test in our practice." Shudo Denmei

By nature I am a sceptical person; I could never blindly follow without questioning or understanding. In truth the studying and the qualifications I obtained are only a small part of becoming a successful practitioner, by listening intently to my patients I gained true understanding and in depth knowledge of their needs.

“The channel system is a finely-tuned instrument on which the acupuncturist plays like a musician” Wang Ju-Yi

Acupuncture is an art, and therefore requires both a calm and quiet atmosphere. My practice is situated in its own grounds next to my home, a place where I have used my knowledge of both treatment and design by creating a unique purpose built therapy room. The timber clad curved building which is luxurious and warm, has been compared to a womb. Placed within a Japanese inspired tea garden, where one should feel that you are stepping from one world into another; can relax and un-wind, encouraging the healing process of both mind and body.
